“What wrong did Surya Kumar Yadav do?- Twitter reacts as BCCI will not consider players above 30 for T20Is
After the exit from the T20 World Cup 2022, the Indian T20I Team is likely to have a lot of changes. In a drastic move, it has been reported that BCCI may not consider players aged above 30 for the T20I squad. On that note, here, we take a look as Twitter reacts to reports that BCCI will not consider players above 30 for T20Is.
BCCI will reportedly not consider players above 30 for T20Is
Although T20 was once considered a format for youngsters, it is now clear that skillset takes the highest preference. Suryakumar Yadav made his T20I debut when he was aged around 30. However, he is not only India’s best batter now but also the best in the format at the global level.
That said, with ODI and Tests gaining relevance in the next year, the workload will be an issue for the management. Fitness is an important factor because the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja was felt a lot by India in the recent T20 World Cup. Considering these factors, it seems BCCI might take a drastic decision. As per reports, India may not consider cricketers aged above 30 for the T20I format from now on.
Twitter reacts to the reports
If the decision does get implemented, it will have a big impact on the team. India’s prominent players such as SKY, Virat Kohli, and even skipper Rohit Sharma are above 30 years. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah will be close to 30 soon. Hence, it would be a bold decision if BCCI implements the same. At the same time, it needs to be noted that Australia won the 2021 T20 World Cup with a lot of experienced names and even the current England Team has a lot of players aged above 30. On that note, here is a look at how Twitter reacted to the reports:

BCCI selection committee should be sacked for thinking about such criteria. They should first find a coach with modern way of thinking Bout cricket and then the players who are fit and willing to play modern cricket.
Putting age a criteria is a nonsense. @BCCI https://t.co/IKKfPph5G5
